A lovely, warm celebration of so many things. The protagonist’s eyes are beautiful, and they are just like her mother’s, grandmother’s and baby sister’s. Their eyes hold love, fun, assurance, history, and tradition. While the first page acknowledges that not everyone has eyes that kiss in the corners, there is no longing to be different expressed - just pride and appreciation. It’s a refreshing and joyful read and an invitation to look at our own families for the beautiful details (physical or otherwise) that tie us together and to our pasts.
