February is Black History Month in many countries around the world, and we’re recognizing it with ten excellent reads with black protagonists. The variety of these books are a good reminder of the infinite variety of black experiences, but a common thread that runs through them all is the importance of recognizing, and celebrating, our individualities.

This list includes classics and new releases, and the books cater to different reading levels, interests, and moods. Books which are available in English are noted along with other languages in which they have been published. The list is organized alphabetically by title.
