Thank you, Omu!
Thank you, Omu! started out as an art school project that led to Oge Mora’s debut as author and illustrator (check her out on the @EmbraceRace video we’ve linked to on our website where she talks with Yuyi Morales and Grace Lin about drawing across colour lines). It is warm, simple and universal. It is told very much in the style of a classic nursery tale with repeated phrases and sing-song rhythm, as Omu (Igbo for queen, and the name Mora used for her grandmother) shares her red stew with each eager neighbour knocking at the door. A lovely story about neighbourhood, sharing, generosity, and creating community.
